Product Description |
Girentuximab (trade name Rencarex) is a chimeric IgG1 monoclonal antibody to carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX). CAIX is expressed on the surface of most renal cancer cells and is hypothesized to be on the surface of other tumor cells. It is investigational agent in clinical trials for renal cell carcinoma. Its development was suspended as a "naked" or unconjugated antibody during phase III trials due to efficacy. |
Mechanism of Action |
Mechanism of action of girentuximab is antibody dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC). As a monotherapy in metastatic renal cell carcinomas(RCC), girentuximab demonstrated minimal clinical activity with a 3% partial response rate and a median survival of 16 months. In vitro data suggest that the number of activated ADCC effector cells can be upregulated by low dose interleukin 2 (IL2) administered in a pulsatile fashion. |
Metabolism |
Girentuximab has a moderate to long half-life. |

What is a biosimilar?
A biosimilar is a biological product that is highly similar to an existing approved reference biological product (also known as the originator or reference product), with no clinically meaningful differences in terms of safety, purity, and potency. Biosimilars are developed to be highly similar to the reference product in terms of structure, function, pharmacokinetics, and clinical efficacy. Alpha Lifetech can provide biosimilar antibody products.

How to purify your antibodies?
Protein A/G Chromatography: Protein A and Protein G are affinity chromatography matrices that specifically bind to the Fc region of antibodies, allowing for their purification from complex mixtures.
Ion Exchange Chromatography: Ion exchange chromatography separates proteins based on their net charge at a specific pH.
Size Exclusion Chromatography: Size exclusion chromatography (SEC), also known as gel filtration chromatography, separates proteins based on their size and shape.
Affinity Tag Purification: Some recombinant antibodies are engineered with affinity tags (e.g., His-tag, FLAG-tag) that facilitate purification. Affinity tag purification involves using specific affinity resins or columns that bind to the tag, allowing for purification of the tagged antibodies. Alpha Lifetech has multiple antibody purification strategies. Please contact us via email info@alphalifetech.com for more detailed information.
