PDCD1 (Programmed Cell Death 1) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with PDCD1 include Systemic Lupus Erythematosus 2 and Multiple Sclerosis. Among its related pathways are Infectious disease and SARS-CoV-2 Infection. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include obsolete signal transducer activity.Inhibitory receptor on antigen activated T-cells that plays a critical role in induction and maintenance of immune tolerance to self.Delivers inhibitory signals upon binding to ligands CD274/PDCD1L1 and CD273/PDCD1LG2.Following T-cell receptor (TCR) engagement, PDCD1 associates with CD3-TCR in the immunological synapse and directly inhibits T-cell activation (By similarity).

Product Background

PDCD1 (Programmed Cell Death 1) is a protein encoding gene that acts as an inhibitory receptor on antigen activated T cells, playing a critical role in inducing and maintaining immune tolerance to oneself. The inhibitory pathway mediated by PDCD1 is utilized by tumors to weaken anti-tumor immunity and evade immune system damage, thereby promoting tumor survival. The interaction with CD274/PCDD1L1 inhibits the effector function of cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs).

Product Description

The ligands PD-L1 and PD-L2 bind to the PD-1 receptor on T-cells, Inhibitioniting the action of these cells. Tumor cells express PD-L1 and PD-L2. Nivolumab binds to PD-1, preventing PD-L1 and PD-L2 from Inhibitioniting the action of T-cells, restoring a patient's tumor-specific T-cell response.

Mechanism of Action

Nivolumab is a monoclonal antibody that targets the programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) receptor on T-cells.

Metabolism

There have not been formal studies regarding the specific metabolism of nivolumab but as a human monoclonal antibody, it has been suggested to be degraded to small peptides and individual amino acids.
